my journey to being a full-fledged convention vendor!
It's been a very unproductive couple of months since I last updated. Christmas got in the way, and then I came down with an illness, and lately I've been totally consumed with Stardew Valley... Playing like, 8 hours per day (at minimum) has been not super helpful for production time...
The good news is that I'm going to be getting a little more money for manufacturing. Yay! More bad news is that I also have commissions that I'm slacking on. Ugh.
Anyway, another thing I've done to try and help myself out of my slump is that I started designing a set of tamagotchi stickers and potential keychains. The lines that sell the best will be turned into keychains at my next event after this one in April. At least, that's the plan! D
I keep getting emails about future events to sign up for, and I'm so tempted to sign up for all of them but I can't afford the table fees... 2027 will be my year, trust...
A couple of days after a severe mental health episode, my university was running a small convention. My friend suggested that we table there next year, and that got the ball rolling again. But I don't think that my poor friend anticipated the monster that that one suggestion had awoken inside of me. A few weeks, a few spreadsheets, and a few important government forms filled later, I booked us (my friend, my other friend and i) for one of the largest conventions in our city. Oops...?
The convention we'll be working at will be the first big convention I'd ever been to. Which I suppose isn't a huge accomplishment, considering my total number of convention visits happens to be 4...
I've invested a LOT of money into this, and I don't expect to break even during my first time! My main goal is to pay back the money loaned to me, and the rest will be invested back into the business. However, I will allow myself to use my money to buy One anime figure from the exhibitor space while there...
Without further ado, here are a list of the things I've done so far.
