i'm very glad that SAWTOWNE took a risk here with releasing a song about catholic fujo miku. the subject matter is close to home especially as someone who was definitely a gay lemons lover althroughout high school even if i had no religious shame about it XD. i'm excited to see what SAWTOWNE will do in future!! very exciting to have an english producer reach this kinda success hehe. the music video alone bumps this up to the rating it is.
MEGURINELUKA TRANCE LAMENT ENG
ugh this song is so pretty and makes me so emotional. trance music is extremely nostalgic to me. there was basically nothing about this song online, since it comes from taishi, who isn't as popular as hundreds of other producers. this song is a real hidden gem, and this one makes me want to check out taishi's other work. i love this song so much.
one of my favourite genres to use vocaloid is dubstep music, which is also probably because i love trance/dubstep in general haha. in particular, the kind that'd be in those 2010s gaming mixes. and this song brings back so much nostalgia ... reminds me of playing on animal jam and listening to stuff like this. so calming and nice.
i almost don't WANT to recommend it so i can keep this one to myself! but i will recommend it. i get if its not ur cup of tea but i adore it...
oh man this is probably the most obscure vocaloid song that i will cover. sitting right now at under 4,000 views... honestly i wish i could give this a higher rating since its such a small producer but its just kind of... not great... i really want to like this song! but yknow. lol
ONE THING I WILL SAY is that it does the thing that all songs in 2016 did where there's an interlude of random droning and i LOVE that ive NEVER seen that specific kind of weird autotuning done like this before. PLEASE i wanna see that kinda thing in more vocaloid songs.
the song is very unique and theres def parts of it i do like but it sits at a low rating.

HATSUNEMIKU MUSICAL DRAMA JPN
now the two star rating may look daunting, but don't get me wrong, i like this song decently enough for what it is. it's a rare political vocaloid song, and is actually speculative dystopian. kinda cool. it's about the declining birthrate in japan which has been a point of political contention for yearss over there. its cool to see some kinda commentary on it through a vocaloid song of all things... the song is about a place where parents can leave their kids for as long as they want if they're busy. abandoning them at the children bank for any reason, for any length of time... jeez.
anyway, as for the actual song, i do enjoy it as a condiut to tell the story. appropriately slow and creepy, but not too creepy to represent the fact this is kind of like an advertisement. but i personally think an adult vocaloid should have been used, or even a character like kaai yuki. cmon doesnt this song SCREAM the kinda creepy song yuki is usually used for??
my final thoughts: i do recommend a listen for people interested in more obscure dark vocaloid songs, but this one's definitely not getting added to my playlist.
