Deltarune is a game in-progress created by Toby Fox and a whole host of others. It's a game that is the successor to the wildly popular 2015 game Undertale, although in terms of the lore, the direct connection to the world of Undertale is... a little more dubious...
It's a story-driven action RPG, with bullet-hell turn-based combat with a much more complex battle system than the game that preceded it. It also carries a darker tone, and the episodic releases rather than the full game releasing at once has led to a game full of mysteries and a community rife with theory crafting.
Deltarune is one of those games where thinking about it too much makes my heart race and my head feel funny. During the release of chapters 3 & 4 in June, I didn't sleep for a full night in the hopes that the day's rest would mean I could play the game all night without stopping when it came out. Which was at 1AM in my timezone. I'm Obsessed. Capital O Obsessed. Deltarune and Undertale is my special interest, with Undertale being the reason I started taking art seriously. I wouldn't be in animation school without these games, that's for sure. Deltarune is absolutely, without question, my favourite thing.
I love the game for the characters, the story, and most of all - the mystery. The story is unfolding to be something very, very interesting.
